Tax Season Marketing: 12 Days of Taxmas Part 1

Updated: Dec 18

Don't you love the Holidays? Everyone's focus is on gifts, food, and loved ones. The last thing on their minds is tax season right around the corner. How can you help these taxpayers and help the algorithm help you before tax season comes?

You can't just come out of the blue with your tax season marketing especially if you have ghosted the platform, and not posted for 3+ months. Your audience needs to know who you are and how you help them. You should already have your platform optimized to answer those questions before you start creating using these marketing prompts.

Let's look at LinkedIn for example:

  • I help statement that tells whose taxes you do.

  • The banner should show your expertise.

  • Your link should tell them how to contact you.

Let's use mine as an example.

You need to warm up the algorithm and let the platform know you are there. This is a very strategic time. As people have time off for the Holidays they can binge for entertainment and education. This is also a time when people are trying to turn a new leaf and do things better than they did in the prior year.

That is why it is important that you use video for these prompts. Written content can still work but won't convert as fast if you don't already have a warm audience.

With tax season right around the corner, this is an optimal time to target people who are looking for a new tax home.

The following prompts in these 12 days of Taxmas will help you educate your prospects, build know, like, and trust, and hopefully convert them to a lead. Think of these prompts as a funnel. The first day is going to attract more people because it will be a general problem. As we go along we will hone in on problems specific to your ideal client. This pushes the urgency for them to talk to you. To not overwhelm you, this article has 6 of the 12 posts. I will give you the remaining post prompts next week.

Note: subscribers and followers are good but they don't belong to you. They become a lead when they have opted into you sliding into their e-mail inbox. YouTube can be gone tomorrow. But when you have an e-mail list that is yours, you can always stay in touch with your leads.

So before we start this campaign together I want to encourage you to do 3 things.

  • Determine the outcome you want from this - wake up the algorithm, get phone calls booked, etc. Something you can track. Clients are the ultimate goal but you need leads before you can get clients, so focus on getting calls booked.

  • Review your booking link/e-mail list link. Is the process easy? Do you collect the pertinent information from the lead when they book a call or join the e-mail list? If you don't have one create one. You can use my intake form as a guide for yours. It is in this article as well as a template you can use - Preparing for Your First Representation Consultation.

  • Have fun! - Good is good enough, don't get stuck on making perfect content. This isn't for your tax professional peers. This is for real people who need your help.

Those in my mentorship will be doing this challenge starting on Saturday, December 14th. If you would like to join along with us be sure to join the How to Start an EA Firm group and share your post each day. That way I can support you and the other members can as well.
