How can you be an Enrolled Agent, one of America's tax experts, and not know these acronyms? But then, I started working in the industry and adopted the acronyms myself. At times, I even forget what it was like when I was starting out.

IRS Acronym Quick Guide
Before we get to the list, let me give you a bonus one for free.
ACS: Automated Collection Services. This is the collection department of the IRS that issues collection notices and makes changes to the taxpayer's account. This is a call site that both taxpayers and tax professionals can access. If you want to request a hold or changes to a taxpayer's account, you should call ACS, not PPS.
